Deadliest Catch, anyone?

I know [info]autumnbottom  is a big fan of the show "The Deadliest Catch," as proved by her May sighting of Edgar Hansen from the Northwestern at a Bigfoot Java. Nevertheless, I suspect she and [info]scifisy  have a few other things to worry about right now than thinking about the following Nordic Heritage Museum fundraiser.

But who knows, there may be other fans of the show reading this who want to drop some big bucks for a chance to pay lots and lots of money to fly up to Dutch Harbor, Alaska and meet / mingle with Deadliest Catch fishermen.

(My favorite part of this entire blurb is: "The bidder must understand that timing is tight between fishing trips and must be flexible with their dates as the offloading schedule for crab cannot be predicted in advance.")

Captain Sig Hansen of the Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch and
Seattle's Nordic Heritage Museum would like to announce a very
special opportunity for fans of the acclaimed television series.

On September 21, 2008, the Nordic Heritage Museum will be holding
their annual fundraiser, the Northern Lights Auktion, taking place
at the Grand Hyatt Ballroom in downtown Seattle. A very exciting
auction lot item has been donated by Captain Hansen to help support
operations at the Museum.

One lucky bidder and one guest will have a chance to visit Dutch
Harbor, Alaska, and spend some time with Sig and his crew! This once
in a lifetime experience will include a short sightseeing trip
around Dutch Harbor and the Island aboard the Northwestern. Later
that evening, enjoy dinner with the crew at the Grand Aleutian
Hotel's Chart Room restaurant. In addition, here's your chance to
join the guys for drinks, meet the locals and perhaps some of the
other fishermen from the show! This auction item also includes round-
trip airfare for two from Seattle and two nights hotel at the Grand
Aleutian in Dutch Harbor.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND that the highest bidder will need to be FLEXIBLE
with his/her schedule! This trip will take place sometime between
the end of January 2009 and March 2009 with only 5 to 7 days advance
notice. The bidder must understand that timing is tight between
fishing trips and must be flexible with their dates as the
offloading schedule for crab cannot be predicted in advance.

This is an exciting opportunity for all Deadliest Catch fans out
there and here is what to do:
Visit www.nordicmuseum.org and click on Deadliest Catch, fill out
the form with your HIGHEST BID and secure bidder information, and
either fax or mail back to the Nordic Heritage Museum NO LATER THAN
5pm SEPTEMBER 19, 2008.

The Nordic Heritage Museum was founded nearly thirty years ago and
is located at 3014 NW 67th St, Seattle, WA 98117. The Museum
features a core exhibit entitled The Dream of America that tells the
story of the Nordic immigrant experience, a contemporary art gallery
featuring the work of Scandinavian and Scandinavian-American
artists, and exhibits featuring history of the five Nordic
countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.

The mission of the Nordic Heritage Museum is to share Nordic culture
with people of all ages and backgrounds by exhibiting art and
objects, preserving collections, providing educational and cultural
experiences, and serving as a community gathering place.

The Nordic fishing and maritime community has been important to the
history and continued growth of the Pacific Northwest, Museum
exhibits celebrating this industry and its' history are well
represented at the Museum. Therefore, we are most thrilled and
honored about Captain Hansen's generous donation and support of the
Museum.

Wow that's quite the prize!
My girlfriend would be up for it, but I know we'd never be able to bid high enough.

Nah, it's not a big deal. It's just my SCA journal that I use to not drive one of my boyfriends nuts with SCA chatter.

Or you could be in Ballard when they're in port and take the walking tour on their boat. Which is $10.
