As many of us prepare our holiday feasts, let's not forget to laugh at ourselves. I'm sure we all have holiday food misadventures that we are trying to live down. Lots of hilarious, holiday-cooking mishap stories can be found over at Notes From the Trenches.

Or, if we don't feel like laughing at ourselves, let's at least take a moment to give thanks that we can laugh at others.

T-Day countdown

Am making WAY TOO MUCH FOOD for tomorrow. Don't blame me -- it just sort of happened. When I was shopping, I thought we might have more people than it turned out we're having. But I don't mind -- this way, I can send everyone home with leftovers and still have leftovers for us, too. :-)

It's about 6 the night before.

* Yesterday I made the sweet/spicy Guajillo-Tamarind Glaze and roasted the fresh poblano peppers for the gravy; both are in the fridge.
* I did the sweet potato / pecan bake this afternoon, and it's in the fridge too, awaiting reheating tomorrow.
* The last of the Pecan Balls (recipe courtesy of Grandma Warren) came out of the oven recently.
* I made cornbread this afternoon, too, to use in the Chorizo-Cornbread Stuffing.
* And tonight after the girls are in bed, I'll make Crescent Rolls.
* And fry up the chorizo for the stuffing, and also fry up  the vegetables for the stuffing. (The recipe says to refrigerate them separately overnight, just in case.)
* I may also make a cherry crisp, just because Pecan Balls aren't a complete dessert roster, y'know?

That leaves only a few things for tomorrow -- roasting the turkey itself, with the glaze, and that's easy! Mashed potatoes, Roasted Green Beans with Shallots and Hazelnuts, Orange-Lemon Cranberries, assembling and baking the stuffing, reheating the sweet potatoes, and finishing the Poblano Gravy. Mmmmmmm.

Oh, and cranberries from a can, because apparently some people like them better that way. *eyeroll*
